The Down Syndrome Information Alliance provides support and resources in Sacramento and surrounding areas to empower individuals with Down syndrome, their families, and our community.
We envision a community where people with Down syndrome are empowered, respected as individuals, and accepted as valued participants in neighborhood schools, community activities, and the business world.
Our Programs
Step-up Walk: October 5, 2025
The Step-Up Walk is your big chance to give back! DSIA needs your help raising funds to continue our programs and outreach. Your participation not only increases awareness and celebrates hope; it also ensures that DSIA will be able to continue to provide support, resources, and much-loved events to our community.
Family Mentors
As you begin caring for your baby (or even while you are pregnant) or as you walk through different stages of life, you might find it helpful to be in contact with another family. Having just experienced many of the emotions you are now facing, they can offer a listening ear and kind words of support and understanding.
Sibling Workshop
Sibling Workshops are designed for brothers and sisters to learn more about disabilities – using games, exercises, and role playing – in an accepting and confidential environment with peers. The workshops result in powerful social connections and early lessons in advocacy.
iCan Shine Bike Program
iCan Shine uses a fleet of adapted bicycles, a specialized instructional program and trained staff to teach individuals with disabilities to learn to ride a two-wheel bike independently.
Our Education Workshops
Year round DSIA hosts expert speakers and workshops on various topics such as oral motor placement, social security, nutrition, education, marriage, special needs trusts, parent wellness… the list goes on!
DSIA County Rep Program
The Down Syndrome Information Alliance serves a geographically large and diverse community of individuals with Down syndrome and their families with resources and support. The County Rep is literally “troops on the ground” in helping DSIA serve our vast community.
I couldn’t have made it without my Parent Mentor. After she walked away from the hospital, I felt peace for the first time. She has always been there for me and I will be forever grateful.”
